Quick Apple Butter
I LOVE apple butter but I will never, in a million years, buy it in a store when it is extremely easy and much less expensive to make it at home. Although the classic preparation has you cooking down apples and spices for hours on end in a slow cooker, there is a way to get the same exact results in a fraction of the time. Plus, you can add or subtract certain flavors. Add a pinch of ginger or even a couple tablespoons of canned pumpkin if desired. This spread is great for breakfast on English muffins, sweet muffins, toast or slather some on your next sausage biscuit.

Ingredients
For 1 Batch(es)
Recipe
- 2 applesauce
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice or nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Quick Apple Butter Directions
Place everything in a medium saucepan over medium heat. When starting to boil, reduce to low and simmer, while stirring frequently, for about 35 minutes, or until darkened and reduced. This apple butter will thicken when cooking and reduce in volume by at least 50 percent. It will continue thickening as it cools in refrigerator as well.
